The Stereopathic Interview
If I could find the time to write more, Stereopathic’s readership would have, by this time, been subjected to a lot more semi-literate posts on Metuchen, New Jersey’s Roadside Graves. The band released my favorite record of 2009, My Son’s Home, a sprawling and ambitious 18-song record dense with beautifully-detailed characters and stories related via singer John Gleason’s bourbon-throated rasp. Since I still don’t really have the time to write, I’ll spare you any further rock-critic-journalist hoo-hah. “Writing about music…” goes the oft-quoted (and rarely attributed) aphorism, really “…is like dancing about architecture.” Read more

It hits me. I have never actually seen Aaron Behrens before. I have been to multiple shows where Aaron Behrens has been on stage, singing and playing guitar. I have replayed him doing his trademark dance moves in my head over and over again while I attempt his slinky gyrations. I have read multiple articles on him. I have seen multiple pictures of him. And yet, I have no clue what he actually looks like. I only realize this as I stare at his face in bewilderment, trying to believe my eyes. I don’t know that I’ve read a better interview with a music personality than this one. Oldham comes across as good-humored, balanced, and wise. I feel like the time spent reading an interview on the internet wasn’t wasted; an uncommon feeling. Check it out.

WOMEN recently stopped through humble Moscow, ID between shows in Salt Lake City and Spokane. The show was advertised for only two days but drew over 100 people to hear WOMEN play at the Nuart Theater alongside local bands The Oolongs and Yarn Owl.
Stereopathic was proud to bring them out, and enjoyed the chance to discuss the band’s influences and tour experiences on KUOI with Mike Siemens the next day. I’m not going to lie; the interview was a little awkward. But we had a jolly good time embracing the inherent weirdness of a radio interview with a relatively obscure band on a completely unknown radio station in a sleepy college town most folks don’t even know exists. Everyone had fun and we here at Stereopathic take our hats off to this fine group of young men.
Here’s the entire interview:
