MP3: Lake - Breathing
We at Stereopathic take great pride in the fact that we have high musical standards and only bring the finest talent out to play for the Moscow/Pullman community. Even if a bands is unknown or the show is poorly attended, we’re always pleased that the music is top-notch.
So, even though we haven’t always had great things to say about Pitchfork, I can’t help but swell with pride when I see them looking favorably upon an act that Stereopathic has brought out to Moscow. Today, I got wind of their stellar review of LAKE’s newest album “Let’s Build a Roof”, a band that we’ve been fortunate enough to bring to the Palouse on two separate occasions.
In other news, another band that Stereopathic has brought to the Palouse more than once (3 times, technically) has made a cool video. The band is Weinland and here’s that video:
Also - I’m on a major Lala.com kick. I like this service more and more - I can listen to most albums once through for free, I can buy “web songs” for 10 cents a piece, and it’s synched up w/my entire iTunes library, so I can log in and listen to my music from any computer. Then, they came out with last.fm scrobbling, which was thrilling to me - mostly because it scratches a narcissistic itch that most of us music snobs have. Well - the one thing I’ve been longing for and heard absolutely nothing about is an iPhone app. Currently, I can play what can fit on my 8 GB iPhone in the car, but my family loves road trips and we work through those podcasts and songs pretty fast. We end up using the Pandora app a good bit, but I’m a control freak and hate being told what to listen to by a computer (or a cloud of computers?). Well - that’s a long introduction for this little bit of news: lala.com has an iPhone app that’s coming out very soon! Even cooler, it sounds like the app is going to cache several hundreds of songs on your phone so that the tunes will keep coming, even if you lose your connection! Isn’t that rad?!
Larson was born and raised in Texas and is as surprised as anyone that he doesn’t mind that fact that it snowed today, here on the Palouse.
