For a crisper sound

Jason Lytle might never quite affect us emotionally as much as the blissy burst of Grandaddy’s “A.M. 180″ did in 28 Days Later, but the man’s got his craft down. This song off his new record, Yours Truly, the Commuter, makes melodic pop look easy. The song hints at Elliott Smith here and there, and the lyrics make oblique gestures at a troubled relationship and lovers whose minds are never fully disclosed to us, without disrupting the tone of the song.
