Drawn Songs #1
This post marks the first in a series from a visual contributor, Nate Stevenson. He listens to music, picks a song that he finds visually evocative and then illustrates the song. We’re used to writing about music. What about drawing about music?
This being the first in the series, we’re still working some things out. The first image here maintains the composition pretty well, but plays loose with the sharpness. If you want a sharper image follow the ‘read more’ link. You can click both of the images to view them larger.

Also, the name of the song? If you haven’t guessed it, read on:
‘My Girls’ by Animal Collective
Nate Stevenson lives, draws, and paints in Moscow, and works all over the Inland Norfwest. He will never die.

ah so rad
My favorite bit of this is the bike horn that guy is holding in one of his hands.
Zipper wrists are awesome.
This is very rad. Keep ‘em coming Nate.
awesome.
Awesome, Nate. It accompanies the song well…
The second guy has 3 arms but how does that drumm stay up in the air? The rest of it is so obvious after listening to the song. Good job Nate
I’m surprised Leck isn’t doing the “point-to-self” dance.
That above quote was me.
I love this, Nate. I kind of knew what song it was before Gabe played it. Caleb listens to it all the time. Keep up the good work!
Love it!
